Julie Ryder: Companion Planting
Inspired by her participation in the Hill End Artist in Residence Program in Murrays Cottage in 2009, Ryder explores the complex relationship between former cottage residents Donald Friend and Donald Murray through a series of thorn encrusted bone sculptures and drawings, delicate water-colour collages, and hand dyed textiles that explore the conflicts and harmonies within close relationships. AES+F: The Feast of Trimalchio
This exhibition of digital artworks has dazzled visitors to the Venice and Sydney Biennales. Russian artist collective AES+F have created The Feast of Trimalchio, a sumptuous digital dreamscape based on the Satyricon by Petronius.The exhibition alsoincludes large-scale digital "paintings" using the visual language of high fashion, luxury design, intermixed with references to the history of art. Colours of the Country II: Alice Springs Beanie Festival
This colourful exhibition encapsulates the whimsical essence of the Alice Springs Beanie Festival started in 1996. The collection highlights works produced by Indigenous artists from the Central Desert region who are regular contributors to this cross cultural event. Bathurst Regional Art Gallery Society (BRAGS) commits $14,000 to preeminate Donald Friend painting purchase
Bathurst Regional Art Gallery has recently been offered an unexpected opportunity to purchase a major work by Donald Friend that would be central to the Hill End focus of the Gallery's permanent collection.
Big Pink Rose Bowl by Anne Ferguson the first sculpture of the proposed sculpture park at BRAG
Visitors to the Bathurst Regional Art Gallery can now begin enjoying the art on show before they even step through the doors, with a new sculpture installed late last-month in the Gallery forecourt. It is hoped that the sculpture will become the centrepiece in a proposed sculpture garden, which is scheduled for development in the Art Gallery/Library forecourt in 2012.
