YOUNG ARCHIE COMPETITION
Bathurst Regional Art Gallery
presented by ANZ
On display Saturday 15 August to Sunday 11 October 2020
Budding artists between the ages of 0 and 18 were invited to submit a portrait for the Young Archie competition, as part of our family focused activities for the Archibald Prize regional tour.
The portraits are of a person who is special to the young artist — someone who is known to them and plays a significant role in their life.
Portraits were 'drawn from life', like with the Archibald Prize, or created from memory or a photograph taken by the young artist.
Close to 150 entries were received for the compeition from as far afield as Coonabarabran, Coffs Harbour and Sydney, and included many local entries from Bathurst, Orange, Blayney and Oberon areas.
The entries were judged by a panel consisting of the BRAG Curator, Audience Engagement Officer and a local Art Educator, with one winner from each category and four highly commended.
The winner and highly commended entries will be displayed in the gallery.
Each entry was photographed and will be displayed on a digital screen alongside the finalists.
There are four age categories:
