Light Sensitive Material: Works from the Verghis Collection
The exhibition Light Sensitive Material: Works from the Verghis Collection provides an exceptional snapshot of current Australian contemporary art practice and a visual depiction of the time and culture in which we live.
The exhibition includes 21 works created between 2000 and 2008 by 14 emerging to mid career Australian artists. The works are part of a larger collection owned by Australian private art collector Rachel Verghis, based in London. BRAG became the guardian of the collection in 2009.
A large part of Verghis' vision for her collection is the support of contemporary art and artists and enabling access to the work for the general public. In order to realise Verghis' altruistic vision BRAG formed a partnership with Museums and Galleries NSW to deliver an eight venue New South Wales regional tour.
