The Bathurst Public Art Policy (PAP) aims to provide for the development and delivery of a strategically planned and innovative Public Art program for the Bathurst Region based on contemporary creative thinking and best practice implementation models.

The Bathurst PAP is currently in Stage 1: Establishment (1–3 years: April 2019 to April 2022) focusing on a Public Art Program featuring temporary art opportunities. To date a dynamic program of Public Art has occurred:
Wendy Murray: Over the Horizon paste-up installation, Hill End (April 2019)
Ways of Seeing artist led youth projection program: Winter Festival (June 2019)
RocoColonial @ Abercrombie House (October 2019)
• Stronger Country Communities Fund grant: $100,000 for Out There Bathurst: Platforms for Public Art digital infrastructure (Application submitted: Nov 2019; Application approved: July 2020)
• Programs suspended due to Covid 19: March 2020 – May 2020)
• Public Art Community Peers call-out (May 2020)
Turn: Biddy Maroney and Sonny Day digital artwork commission Winter Festival (June 2021)
• Public Art Policy Committee and Technical Review Panel Terms of Reference developed and Panels selected (June/July 2020)
• Public Art Policy Committee convened (August / November 2020 / January 2021)
Adaptation public art workshops (August 2020)
• Public Art Artist Register developed and live online (October 2020)
• Research into ReNew Australia programs and support (October 2020 - ongoing)
Streets As Shared Spaces: Public Art EOI for precinct activation distributed (December 2020) for delivery June 2021
Out There Bathurst: Platforms for Public Art digital youth engagement projects for delivery June 2021 to April 2022
• BRAG continues to liaise with other BRC departments regarding Public Art programs, suggestions, brokering, and advice including Events, Planning, Environment, Economic Development Unit, and Community Services (ongoing)
• Public Art resource documents developed: Overview, Arts Law Public Art Contract, Brief/EOI Template (internal), Proposal Form, Checklist, Selection Matrix Template (internal), Public Art Resources, (May 2020 to January 2021)
• Web resources online and live (ongoing)
